This week, the unincorporated midcoast had a residential and an auto burglary, a car theft, trailer fire, and a bike theft.
In the previous log, it was reported that a banner featuring a "terrorist threat" was found in El Granada.
Two unidentified females came into the Sheriff’s North Coast Substation to turn in a banner that had terrorist threats painted on it. The females removed the banner from a tree located on Francisco Avenue. A report has been taken and the incident will be investigated.
According to Sgt. Jerry Quinlan at the Sheriff’s detective bureau, the banner said a particular person (unnamed by the Sheriff) "supported animal torture". It was hung from a tree near El Granada Elementary School. The case is not being investigated as a terrorist threat, but the organization whose name appears on a banner (Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty) had some history that heightened interest in the banner. The organization is targeting a lab in the UK with protests against many of its suppliers and customers.

Lobitos Creek Road, Half Moon Bay
Unknown suspects entered the victim’s unlocked residence and took a horse saddle valued at approximately $500 dollars. The suspects also entered an open barn and took a chainsaw. There are no suspects, witnesses or evidence at this time.
Auto Theft 05-1108

Reef Point Road, Moss Beach
A former resident of Moss Beach called the Sheriff’s office to report that his vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle was parked in front of the residence where he once lived and locked with a club. The owner of the vehicle and the current resident do not know who may have stolen the vehicle.
Trailer Fire 05-1113

Play Bowl Drive, La Honda
Deputies were dispatched to a trailer fire on Play Bowl Drive in La Honda. Information from the reporting party was that there was a victim inside the trailer. While Deputies on scene were attempting to locate a victim, the trailer suffered an explosion. Since two propane tanks were nearby, deputies evacuated the persons on scene to safety. The reporting party returned to the fire in an attempt to dowse the flames with a garden hose, believing that there was someone in the trailer. The trailer was later determined to be unoccupied.

A victim left his bicycle out in front of a local business while he went inside. When he returned, his bicycle was gone.
Auto Burglary 05-1148

Purisima Creek Road
Deputies were dispatched to on the report of an auto burglary. The victim reported that he parked his vehicle in the parking area and locked the doors. When he returned to his vehicle, the driver’s side window had been broken and various items were taken.
Drunk in Public 05-1226

Capistrano Road, Princeton
Deputies were dispatched to a local business on the report of an intoxicated male refusing to leave the establishment. Deputies contacted the man, age 33, of Moss Beach. Deputies found him to be too intoxicated to care for himself. He was placed under arrest and transported to the county jail to be released when sober.
