Consultants’ plan for Hwy 1 lacks awareness of our environment and community

March 02, 2010
Is the negative reaction to roundabouts based on concerns about slowing vehicle speed, the sq. footage a roundabout requires or the suburbanization of the Midcoast? David suggests creating a parallel access routes. How would this work? GGNRA has no plans to build a highway on the Rancho Corral de Tierra property. Suggesting compulsory acquisition/eminent domain of private property and parkland to build a highway doesn't sound like a solution. Please explain in more detail. Moss Beach needs safe Highway…

Consultants’ plan for Hwy 1 lacks awareness of our environment and community

March 01, 2010
The El Granada traffic and trails plan is conceptual. Caltrans is not onboard and to-date no funding is available. This is the appropriate time to communicate ideas, suggestions, questions and concerns. Why Supervisors should be elected by district In San Mateo County

February 05, 2010
LA Times - September 25, 2008 - By Mitchell Landsberg Election nullified before the vote Judge says its at-large provision works against Latinos in violation of the Voting Rights Act. A judge in Central California has taken the unusual step of tossing out, in advance, the results of an upcoming school board election after finding that it violated the terms of the California Voting Rights Act. Madera County Superior Court Judge James E. Oakley concluded Tuesday that at-large elections for three school…

SFPUC may ease recreational access to Crystal Springs Reservoir property

I love this bike ride. Robert Donahue the guide who coordinates unlocking the gates is awesome and has a badass bike. The views are spectacular. If your lucky Robert will make the full loop. http://sfwater.org/detail.cfm/MC_ID/20/MSC_ID/176/C_ID/1600 When they open the gates permanently this trail will be paved and discovered. Ride it now before that happens!

Pacifica apartment owners running out of time, and space

This week the engineer managing the erosion project on Esplanade Ave. said, "The work my crew is doing will hold the bluff for another 50 years or more." Planning Commission was not given Big Wave comments

January 27, 2010
The Big Wave project Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) is not defined well enough to provide meaningful information for environmental assessment. The public and decision makers have not been provided adequate information regarding the project’s potential impacts and whether those impacts can be mitigated or reduced to a level of insignificance. The DEIR is fundamentally inadequate, inconsistent and unstable. If the DEIR is not substantially revised and recirculated the County could be subject…

Additional Big Wave DEIR comments are available for download. Download additional Big Wave DEIR comments: https://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=MVNmeW45R0ZsMHgzZUE9PQ I spoke with County planner Camille Leung yesterday, she said it's not part of the Planning Departments process to provide the Planning Commissioner with the DEIR comments. Leung said the Commissioners would have to put in a formal public records request if they wanted to review the DEIR comments in advance of…

Planning Commission Study Session: Wed, Jan 27 8:00am Location: Supervisors Chambers, 400 County Center Redwood City The Pillar Ridge letter is number 3 on the top 10 list and its excellent. Come discuss safe crossing for Hwy 1 in Moss Beach and Montara at MCC, Weds, Jan 27

January 24, 2010
The Charter Review Committee is meeting the same night! This is most unfortunate for those of us who are concerned about at-large Board of Supervisor elections AND safe crossing in Moss Beach and Montara. The Charter Review Committee meeting is this Wednesday, January 27th at 5:00pm in Redwood City. Hopefully the MCC will have a planning meeting to actually do something to improve bicycle and pedestrian crossings with Caltrans on a night that does not conflict with the Charter Review Committee meeting.…

A more open process is needed for the county’s Charter Review Commission

January 15, 2010
The jury is stacked and Michael Murphy is the unofficial chair. What else is new? Very few members of the public attended the first meeting. I hope more people come to the next Charter Review Committee meeting on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 5:00pm. During public comment I read a letter supporting the June 30, 2009 Grand Jury Report. Public comment was the last item on the agenda. During public comment I also requested the following: Meetings should be located throughout the County so the public…

Why is Harbor Village deserted?

December 15, 2009
It's a bummer that Harbor Village was not redesigned by a talented Bay Area architect. Unfortunately the dated 1980's architecture is going to require a major remodel/redesign before it attracts visitors and locals for shopping. We all share different aesthetics and from my perspective Harbor Village indoor shopping mall is an architectural atrocity.

We need a way to cross Highway 1 safely in Moss Beach and Montara

December 14, 2009
Kevin Barron, I don't agree with your assumptions. A young persons life has profoundly changed. Your comments are flippant given the seriousness of the accident. Sarcastic comments are unnecessary.

We need a way to cross Highway 1 safely in Moss Beach and Montara

December 10, 2009
If we had a crosswalk in Moss Beach I would use it and so would kids, cyclists commuting to work and pedestrians going to and from the beach, the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, the post office and Montara Mt. I agree the speed limit needs to be reduced in Moss Beach. I would like the speed limit dropped to 35mph in both Moss Beach and Montara. Twelve year old, Julian Navarro suffered a fractured pelvis, spinal injuries, sever injuries to his cervix, arm and foot. He was hit head-on by an SUV driven by…

Joel, It was my understanding that Mr. Larimer arrived early on November 25th at the "Temple of Democracy" and *may* have paid via money order or check for the first day of the recount.
