Barry,
Thanks for the recount education. Very interesting.

This has been an exciting election! Why was the recount called off? Did Mr. Larimer only offer to pay for one day?

The Seal Cove area, based on the early study of wells, was the most problematic of all the Midcoast groundwater basins. The County should include Seal Cove in the restriction on new wells.

Thanks for the photos of the Temple of Democracy.
Jim Larimer turns up in the most astonishing places! Did you happen to get a picture of him paying cash for the recount?

Very few Coastside residents are aware of this project.
Checkout the map of the Big Wave notification area. The red ring indicates the five hundred foot radius notification area, the area inside the ring is the Big Wave development site.

Parking Lot Sealcoat: A Major Source of PAH Contamination: toxic to mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, invertebrates, and plants. Geological Survey (USGS) have identified coal-tar based sealcoat—the black, shiny emulsion (slurry seal) painted or sprayed on asphalt pavement such as parking lots—as a major and previously unrecognized source of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination. Several PAHs are suspected human carcinogens and are toxic to aquatic life. Studies in Austin, Texas,…

At the Wednesday, October 28 Planning Commission meeting Lisa Grote summarized Section 15105 of the CEQA Guidelines which spells out the CEQA review timelines - not less than 45 days nor more than 60 days unless there are "unusual circumstances". Lisa Grote, San Mateo County Planning Director said "unusual circumstances" usually relate to failure to notice, but obviously there is lots of discretion as to what this term means. Read the CEQA Guidelines at: http://ceres.ca.gov/ceqa/guidelines/art8.html…

County Parks has said that a 10' wide paved trail meets ADA requirements. It is my understanding that a 10' wide paved trail exceeds ADA state regulations. “DG” base rock or other pervious surface are ADA accessible. The Coastal Conservancy is currently building a 3 mile segment of California Coastal Trail using a crushed base rock surface, 8 feet wide. The Coastal Conservancy and POST did an awesome job on the Coastal Trail at Pillar Point Bluff. I encourage the County to keep environmental…

Pampas grass peace sign. Interesting use of an invasive plant.
October 22, 2009
Hello Lisa,
The pampas grass eradication project was not discussed during the meeting. I asked organizer Katherine Kelly Clark what the contest was doing to give back to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve and she didn't have any specifics. She did say that João De Macedo is the part-time Eco Manager of Mavericks Surf Ventures, Inc. Maybe he is the guy to ask about this.

Other than recycling and trash cleanup what is Mavericks Surf Ventures, Inc. doing to help the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve? Hello Minna, If the black tar is located in HMB you might consider contacting the HMB City Council with your questions. If the black tar is in the unincorporated Midcoast segment of the trail you should contact Dave Holland (650-363-4020
