On Sunday 04-24-11, at approximately 1823 hours, Deputies received a call of a Pitbull attacking another dog in a yard on North St. in Pescadero. Upon arrival they made contact with the reporting party who stated that the neighbor’s dog went into her back yard and attacked her dog. The owner of the Pitbull came to the house grabbed his dog, then left. The reporting party stated this is the third or forth time this has occurred so she decided to report it.

It’s time to get revved up for “The Coolest Show on Earth” and, while having some serious fun, benefit a great cause –– the Coastside Adult Day Health Center.

Whimsical, fascinating, amusing, educational, curious, and unique are a few words that describe the Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show, Half Moon Bay’s massive annual celebration of mechanical ingenuity, power and style.

It’s a remarkable show-and-tell spectacle, an outdoor museum-for-a-day, featuring 2,000 magnificent driving, flying and working machines from the 20th and 21st centuries. In short, a feast for the senses for motorheads!

What’s coming? World-class cars of every era and style, Model T fire engines, vintage buses, custom motorcycles, tricked-out trucks, sleek streamliners, one-of-a-kind antique engines and tractors and historic military aircraft will be among the mesmerizing displays.

This year’s spectacular 21st annual show takes place on Sunday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Half Moon Bay Airport, located in the picturesque seaside town of Half Moon Bay about 20 miles south of San Francisco.

The show is a critical annual fund-raiser (now more important than ever) to benefit the Coastside Adult Day Health Center which faces major cuts in funding from the State of California.

Please join the Coastside Land Trust for an exciting workshop led by Toni Corelli, Half Moon Bay botanist, State Park volunteer and co-author of Plants and Plant Communities of the San Mateo Coast. Learn plant family characteristics, how non-native plants arrive here, and where the native plants are. Light refreshments will be served.

Come stroll through this beautiful open space, lead by Toni Corelli. apply your new identification skills to plants and other wildlife. Beverages and cookies will be served at the end.

I am relieved to report that I picked up the Market Certification for the season this afternoon and so have it in hand nearly two full weeks before Opening Day!  A Record! Whoo Hoo. There are still several more bits and pieces to put in place over the next two weeks, so while I am figuring out some of those delicious details, I want to get a few Hot Dates on your calendars for the season ahead.

If things continue to go according to plan, why then The Coastside Farmers’ Market opens for the season at 2:30 on Wednesday, May 4th in Rockaway Beach, Pacifica. Mayor Mary Ann Nihart will be on hand to chat with the eager throngs and to ring the Opening Day bell, made for us specially by our own Silvio Modena.  Nancy Hall takes the opening day stage, so lucky you, Pacifica!

The Half Moon Bay Season Opener follows at 9 AM on May 7th,  Assemblyman Jerry Hill will be on hand to do the honors and give the bell a rousing jingle, and stay on to mingle and (one hopes) to pick up some gorgeous groceries, including ( yay!)  pastured eggs, certified organic vegetable starts for home gardens, fresh fish right outta the Half Moon Bay harbor, world famous goats cheese, the seasons’ first berries, iconic artichokes, and loads of gorgeous and nutri-full green greens galore. The truly talented Taylor Brown will lend the PA to ASM Hill for a few moments, then sing to you sweetly while you stroll through the strawberries, spring salad greens, sweet peas. Oh yes.
