So that was a near disaster... no wonder why Gordon doesn't come by often. Ambush, stacked deck, and grandstanding come to mind. I think of the 17 speakers (and trust me, I kept score) less than 5 actually mentioned the issue at hand.. and even then, took the time to grandstand. It was a Ric LoveFest. Which he's a great guy, but many of you botched that. Good to see (sarcasm awry) the MCC waste it's time and tax payer dollars to have a guy (amidst eye rolling and reminding us of his volunteerism)…

FYI for folks to refer to the Midcoast Council's By-laws, so as to gain a sense of their authority and purposes. Importantly, and predictably, the last couple articles on this matter are hive-poking and loaded with consternation. Reeks of Jerry Brown rewriting propositions towards his own political fervor. Let me take a moment to lift up, with some journalistic clarity, since their is one core proposal here What the Supervisor is pushing for is recommending a resolution **to not allow individuals…

Vince, it was a blatant personal attack. Nice try on the backpeddle. You are obviously on opposite ends with Steve's piece, and it clearly shone through.
Steve, well-written and clever. Titanium prices have fallen in recent weeks, you may want to look into that as an alternative.

> b) loss of habitat (human encroachment).
Given the flurry of mass development here on the coast, the Serramonte del Moss Beach if you will, we've pushed the wildlife down to the shoreline.... It must be human-influenced.

This is peanuts... wait until the revenue shortfall really, no make that REALLY hits. County revenues are going to dip across the board with budgets and programs throttled to the glory days of real estate prices, and taxation thereof, much less commercial/corporate revenues (or lack thereof). More tertiary, and gravy projects and functions will get cut. Given the upcoming tax cuts (sarcasm awry), perhaps we can now afford chip in for own private biologist as Nancy suggests.

Well done Steve.
There's barely any flight school lessons run out of HMB, comparatively speaking. Sorry folks didn't read the fine print being near a municipal airport. I did, and am fine with it. Maybe someone can find some federal assistance a la being snooker'd by some mortgage broker.
Curious when the complaints at the traffic congestion at the Jetty/Surfer's Beach start getting posted? Blame it on the waves.

careful what you wish for... you just might get it ;-)

If they truly are flying too low and violating the myriad of rules and regs.... a video camera from a fair view proves better than collecting numbers and filing a complaint.

>>I would venture to say that if the parents take interest in their kids, they will do well and prosper.
Steve...agree, but it is more than a "venture"... it is PARAMOUNT.
The solution is in the community and family hood, not with tweaking and constant auditing of the monolithic educational systems, strapped by the protectionist unions and the CTA.

As a product of the local school system... from what I observe and observed, is the dropouts came/come from lack of family value/ethics/discipline/etc... not nickel and diming on English scores and math competency, and "what have you done for my kid lately Mr District Superintendent". Economic and language barriers is just folly, nee the Southeast Asian families of San Jose of 5 years or less in the US, or the plethora of Indian and Pakistani families in South Fremont. Poor management? Teaching methods??...…

Not to turn this into a Yelp-like thread, but Pacifica Pet Hospital and Dr Gary Hurlbut... my family has had 15+ years of 5-star care and pragmatism (hard to find, vs. yanking you for every penny).

Time out... at least we KNOW what Fox News stands for. The real travesty is the major networks... let me start in order of liberal biasm: CBS, NPR, CNN, NBC, ABC, and so on. These are blatant left outlets, unfortunately under the guise of "mainstream media". Why is Fox constantly atop the charts, because roughly 50% of the country is fed up with what has been decades of "neutral guised" but biased media. Spare me. Why did Air America fail... because KGO, KCBS, et al are already liberal/Democrat outlets...…

"Lanny Davis is not a stupid man, but he plays one on TV. Convincingly."
So much for responsible factual journalism.

Kudos, Barry.. that's about where I wound up as well. Still, a 20% variance will make one ask the value/quality of service and selection. Just noticing the Cheerios .. a national, if not global "commodity" with a stddev of .34. Among other name brands... too funny. My guess is everyone is going to go "ga-ga" over New Leaf HMB.... given the underlying principles, but hopefully most will see through the Mother Earth lenses and be able to reason within the value, or lack thereof. But I doubt it.

noticed in the spreadsheet...a few odd anamolies. There is a purchase of 3 Fuji apples... Safeway was 2.99/lb as was the new fan fave New Leaf at 2.99/lb. Yet Safeway came to $4.96, whilst New Leaf rung in at $2.21? So if I am correct, they should of cost the same or somewhat close, what am I missing as to why Safeway would cost a whopping 102% more, yet was charging the same price/per weight. Are their apples twice as big? The math seems awry here. Might be good to take everything that is sold by…

Barry: FYI - the links to the spreadsheet/pdf are reversed. Also, is there a more detailed spreadsheet, as it's the same thing as the Summary Table, which is a bit too high-level to analyze.
The $450K-$325K range for the land might be a bit outdated already, unfortunately.
Steven, the equity partnership idea ain't that crazy an idea. The legal benefits for those involved could be compelling, in case this somehow rears it's ugly head again.

Annelise... you think we should outlaw golf courses, country clubs, football fields, baseball diamonds... while we're at it, return Golden Gate Park back to it's natural state... sand dunes, right on. Minature golf courses too, yes they are fake, but they espose the ideals of lawn'age. (rollseyes)

Right Carl... and lack of energy isn't caused from voting against every/any piece of legislature to create power, it's from overuse and overpopulation. This is lame, as there was so much resource that could of been tapped, but decades of (lack of) legislation leads us to situations such as this. Last I checked, we did NOT have a dry winter... what we've had (ongoing) is dry action. Curious how many reservoirs have been created in the last 2 decades, vs the 2 decades prior. I think we should mandate…

P.S. I don't think I've bagged my own groceries at Linda Mar Safeway in a year plus. Perhaps closer to two years. And ALWAYS, whether it's the bagger or clerk, they never miss to ask if I need to help out today. Maybe the HMB store manager can shadow the Linda Mar guy/girl for a week... and see how it's done ;-)

Neat article... love the CPI like coverage. Speaking of, would be neat to keep a Coastsider CPI: 500kwh electricity, gas, propane, gas, bread, beef, etc... And I must say, many Montara and Moss Beach residents do use the Safeway in Linda Mar, due to proximity and ease. Their butchers are nothing like what you mention in HMB. They usually come out from behind the counter, much less jump at the chance to help with your custom order, and makes suggestions thereof. Anyone remember that Safeway 25 years…
